Don’t pay to claim the benefits you need
Claims Management Companies (CMCs) are contacting pensioners, offering to handle claims for benefits like Attendance Allowance or missing Home Responsibilities Protection (HRP), for a fee.
Although this isn't illegal, the fees can be several hundred pounds. Some people don't realise they've entered into an agreement until it's too late.
If you are eligible for these benefits, it is free to claim them.
If you need support to apply, then independent and trusted help is available for free from organisations such as Citizens Advice and Independent Age.
The Department of Work and Pensions has launched a campaign to explain how to claim benefits and more information can be found on their campaign website.
