National Suicide Memorial Day for Health and Care Workers

The National Suicide Memorial Day for Health and Care Workers will be taking place on the 17 September. Founded by NHS Practitioner Health and Doctors in Distress in 2023, this day is an annual opportunity to remember the health and care workers lost to suicide.

This year’s theme is Lasting Memories and Building Hope - honouring the memory of health and care workers who have died by suicide, whilst sharing words of support with colleagues struggling with their mental health.

If you would like to get involved by sharing a message of hope or a special tribute, please visit the National Suicide Memorial Day website: www.practitionerhealth.nhs.uk/national-suicide-memorial-day .

This is a space for people to share encouragement and reasons to stay. To remind them that they are not alone and that others in a similar position have survived and come out the other side.

The day is also a reminder to check in if you are worried about a colleague: www.practitionerhealth.nhs.uk/worried-about-a-colleague .
