Welcome to our new trustees!

We were sorry to say goodbye to trustees, Dr Andrew Rodgett and Dr John Brett at our AGM on 1 May. Both Andrew (pictured here with our Vice-Chair, Dr Rob Barnett) and John have given a great deal of support and guidance to the Fund over the years and we would like to thank them for their time and dedication.

At the same time, we were delighted to welcome Dr Susi Caesar, Dr Girish Chawla and Dr Michal Grenville as new members of Council. A full list of our trustees can be found here.

Dr Susi Caesar (Representative for Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, Avon and Gloucestershire)

Susi qualified MA (Natural and Medical Sciences, Cambridge, 1987) and MBChB (Edinburgh, 1990) and went straight into GP training in Cheshire. She has been a GP since 1994, as a partner in Cheshire and Dorset, and in retained, salaried and locum GP roles, although she is about to retire from clinical work. She will continue to work in medical education and professional standards, and as CEO of Wessex Appraisal Service (WAS) Ltd. offering supportive medical appraisals for revalidation to doctors working outside the NHS.

GP friends of her family were significantly supported by the Cameron Fund, so she has been aware of and supportive of the work of the Charity for many years. Having re-married in December and moved to Gloucestershire, she is delighted to have been appointed as Trustee for the South West.

Susi hopes to bring her experience, energy and enthusiasm to ensuring the fund remains a valuable resource for GP colleagues in the future.

Dr Michal Grenville (Joint representative for the London Boroughs)

Qualifying in 1972, Michal worked as a GP for 50 years. She became a partner in 1979 and has worked in Waltham Forest ever since as a GP trainer. In her role as postgraduate Director of Education for London University she had the privilege of working in healthcare and medical education in Sri Lanka and the republic of Georgia.

When she first became a partner, Michal was involved with a trust set up by a priest which helped overseas students to obtain books and equipment during their medical training and felt that she benefited from meeting them as much as they benefited from the support. Michal continues to practice part time and is a long serving member of her LMC and a member of the Londonwide executive.

A biography for Dr Girish Chawla (representative for Cumbria, Durham, Tyne & Wear, Northumberland and Cleveland) will follow soon.
